Last Weekend
The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team fell to Northern Michigan on Friday night by a final of 5-2. Stephen Vigier netted 2 goals for the Wildcats, while Mitch Jones, Ryan Daugherty and Erik Higby added one goal each. Sophomores Connor Kucera and Ryan Carpenter scored for the Falcons, while freshman goaltender Tommy Burke stopped 16-of-21 shots on the night. Northern Michigan's Jared Coreau allowed 2 goals on the Falcons' 39 shots.
The Falcons capped off their final regular season home game with a 5-3 win over Northern Michigan on Saturday night. Andrew Wallace, Ben Murphy, Ryan Carpenter, Bobby Shea and Brett Mohler all scored for the Falcons, while freshman goaltender Tommy Burke (5-6-2) stopped 17-of-20 shots on the night.
Five Goals Against
The Falcons surrendered five goals to Northern Michigan Friday night, marking just the third time this season that the Falcons have given up five goals in a game. The first came back in a 5-3 loss to Union on Oct. 12, while the second came back in a 6-1 loss to Michigan State on Nov. 3. All three games in which the Falcons have surrendered five goals or more this season have been at the BGSU Ice Arena.
Kucera On The Board
Sophomore Defenseman Connor Kucera scored the first Falcon goal in Friday night's loss to NMU. Kucera's goal marked his first tally since Nov. 3 against Michigan State, snapping a 23-game goal drought. Kucera's two goals this season marks a new career high.
Tommy Burke
Freshman Tommy Burke struggled in the Falcons' loss to Northern Michigan Friday night, allowing a career-high five goals on the night. Burke also allowed two power-play goals in the loss, tying a career high. Since his career-high 36 saves against Ferris State on Feb. 15, Burke is 0-2-0, carrying a 4.56 goals against average and a .780 save percentage in that span.
Power Play Goals
Sophomore Ryan Carpenter scored a power play goal in the Falcons' loss to Northern Michigan Friday night, giving him a team-high six with the man advantage this season. Freshman Mark Cooper is tied for second on the team with three power play goals, while three other Falcons (Bryce Williamson, Cam Wojtala and Ben Murphy) are tied for third with two power play goals. Wojtala led all Falcons last season with four power play goals in 42 games played. As a team, the Falcons have scored 17 goals on the power play this year, matching their 2011-12 season total.
Goals On Top Of Goals
Sophomore Ryan Carpenter scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season Saturday night, four more than his total from last season. Carpenter's goal on Friday now gives him more than Dan DeSalvo's team high from 2011-12. The last Falcon to score 15 goals or more in a season was Dan Sexton when he recorded 17 back in 2008-09.

Senior Bobby Shea scored a short-handed game-winning goal against Northern Michigan Saturday night, marking the first short-handed goal of the season for Bowling Green. The Falcons' last short-handed goal came from Marc Rodriguez in a 2-2 tie (SOW) against Ohio State on Jan. 7, 2012. Prior to Saturday, the Falcons had not scored a short-handed goal in 55 games.

Junior Andrew Wallace (Bedford, Nova Scotia) had one of his best weekends as a Falcon against Northern Michigan, leading the Orange and Brown with three points in the series. Wallace recorded an assist Friday night, followed by a goal and an assist in the Falcons' 5-3 win over Northern Michigan. Wallace also led Bowling Green with a plus-3 on-ice rating, and blocked one shot.
Shea
Senior Bobby Shea led the Falcons with six assists in the month of February, tying for the team lead in points with seven. Shea also led Bowling Green with a plus-11 on-ice rating and 11 blocked shots in eight games. Shea's lone goal of the month was an important one, as his short-handed tally on Saturday counted as the game winner against NMU. Shea's short-handed goal marked the first short-handed tally of the season for the Falcons.

Notre Dame Last Week: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Western Michigan Broncos battled to a 3-3 overtime tie on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,738 at Lawson Arena. The Broncos picked up the extra point in the standings as they downed the Irish, 2-1, in a shootout that went four rounds. David Gerths, Bryan Rust and Austin Wuthrich scored for Notre Dame as the Irish came from behind three times in the playoff-like atmosphere versus Western Michigan.
For the second consecutive evening, Notre Dame and Western Michigan played a tight checking, stellar goaltended game as the two teams battled to a 1-1 overtime tie on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 4,051 at Lawson Arena. This time, though, the Irish were on the winning side of the post-overtime shootout as they picked up the extra point in the standings with a 2-0 shootout win. All the scoring came in the first period as Notre Dame got its goal from junior right wing Bryan Rust who had a goal in each game of the series.

David Gerths, Bryan Rust and Austin Wuthrich scored for Notre Dame as the Irish came from behind three times in the playoff-like atmosphere versus Western Michigan.
For the second consecutive evening, Notre Dame and Western Michigan played a tight checking, stellar goaltended game as the two teams battled to a 1-1 overtime tie on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 4,051 at Lawson Arena. This time, though, the Irish were on the winning side of the post-overtime shootout as they picked up the extra point in the standings with a 2-0 shootout win. All the scoring came in the first period as Notre Dame got its goal from junior right wing Bryan Rust who had a goal in each game of the series.
