BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team, behind a season-high 17 runs on a season-high 17 hits, defeated the University of Dayton on Tuesday (May 16) afternoon by a score of 17-10. The ballgame was the last game of the season at Steller Field. Nine different Falcons registered hits, while seven BGSU batters registered an RBI.

Bowling Green improves to 15-32 on the season with the victory, while Dayton drops to 17-35 in 2017 with the loss. The Falcons won seven games at Steller Field this season.
Â
"It was great to see us have an offensive performance like that," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "I'm happy that our seniors won their final game at Steller Field, and a number of them had big games. It was just one of those days where you were going to have to out-hit them, and we found a way to score lots of runs."
Â
Each team used eight pitchers in a ballgame where at least one run was scored in seven innings. Bowling Green scored four runs apiece in innings one, three and six, while adding a five spot in the eighth.
Â
The Falcons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Dayton roared right back with six runs in the top of the second. After the Flyers took a 7-4 lead in the top of the third, Nick Glanzman hit a grand slam in the bottom of the frame to give the Falcons an 8-7 lead.
Â
Glanzman had a career day in his final game at Steller Field, going 3-for-4 with two runs, five RBI and a walk. The home run for Glanzman was his first one the season, and the third of his career. Randy Righter hit a two-run blast in the first, marking his fifth home run on the season. Righter went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.
Â
The back-and-forth affair continued as Dayton took a 9-8 lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth, but for the third time on the afternoon, the Falcons scored four runs in a frame. This time, the four runs were pushed across in the sixth, which gave Bowling Green a 12-9 lead.
Â
Dayton scored its final run of the game in the eighth, but Bowling Green scored five runs on one hit – a two-RBI single from Jeff Scott – to conclude the game's scoring in the bottom of the inning. Scott went 2-for-6 with two RBI and one run.
Â
Cam Daugherty had a two-RBI double in the first, and finished the ballgame 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. Jake Wilson also recorded multiple hits, as he went 2-for-4 with a run, RBI and walk.
Â
The RBI for Wilson marked his 30th on the season. He becomes the first Falcon true freshman to register 30 RBI since the legendary Jon Berti posted 34 RBI in 2009.
Â
Derek Drewes had a productive day at the plate, as well, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one RBI and two walks. Greg Basalyga finished his Steller Field career by going 1-for-3 with three runs and a walk.
Â
Tony Landi, in his last appearance in Bowling Green, pitched a perfect sixth inning, and picked up the win in the process. Kody Brown recorded the five-out save. He pitched the final 1.2 innings. Nathan Lohmeier fired a perfect seventh inning, while Addison Rospert got the start, and went 1.1 innings with one strikeout in his Steller Field sendoff.
Â
Bowling Green will conclude its regular season at Elon with a three-game series over May 18-19. The series opener is slated for Thursday at 6 p.m. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m., with the second game beginning approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.Â
