>>STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
- The Bowling Green Falcons flew out of Bemidji, Minnesota having won five league points over the weekend. This was enough to clinch home ice in the first round of the WCHA playoffs for the sixth season in a row (March 8-10). The Falcons have played at home in the first round of the playoffs since joining the conference following the 2012-13 season. With 52 points in the WCHA, the Falcons will seek to clinch the two seed this weekend. They will need to hold off Northern Michigan to do so (3rd place with 50 points). The Falcons could clinch as early as Friday night with a win and a Northern Michigan loss or tie.
- With Saturday's victory (Feb 22.) the Bowling Green hockey program secured its fifth season in a row of 20 wins or more. This is the longest streak of consecutive 20-plus win seasons since Bowling Green did it two years straight during the 1994-95 (25 wins) and 1995-96 seasons (26 wins). Prior to those two seasons, the longest streak of 20 wins or more was between the 1981-82 and 1989-90 seasons under former Head Coach Jerry York.
- Bowling Green continues to bolster one of the nation's strongest team defenses coming into this series at No. 1 in the nation. The Falcons have spent the majority of the 2018-19 season in the top three in team defense. They enter this series with the lowest goals-against-per-game average in the country (1.79). The BG PK unit also remains one of the best sitting in third place with a percentage of .880.
- Junior Alec Rauhauser comes into this series as the reigning WCHA Defenseman Of The Week (Feb. 25). This is the second time he has won the award during the 2018-19 season (Oct. 29). Rauhauser extended his point streak to five straight games over the weekend, recording one assist per game in BGSU's series against Bemidji State. This ties the second longest point streak of his career (5 games, 2017-18), and is one shy of tying his longest career point streak (6 games, 2017-18).
- Max Johnson has extended his scoring streak to two games in a row tallying one goal each against the BSU Beavers. He is now tied with Lukas Craggs and Connor Ford for the team high in goals scored at 13 all. With 29 points on the season he remains the second highest scorer on the roster and is one point shy of tying his total from a season ago.
- Lukas Craggs has tallied at least one assist in his last four games bringing his point streak to four games in a row. Craggs has recently surpassed the 50 point mark on his career with the Orange and Brown (Feb. 16 vs UAF) with a total of 30 goals and 21 assists for 51 points after Saturday's (Feb. 23) game.
>>NATIONALLY RANKED
- The Bowling Green Falcons remain ranked No. 15 in the most recent USCHO poll (Feb. 25). BGSU is one of three WCHA teams in the poll, joining No. 4 Minnesota State and No. 19 Lake Superior State.Â
