BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team hosts Mid-American Conference-leading Miami University this weekend at Steller Field. The three-game series will take place over April 12-14. The series opener is scheduled Friday (April 12) at 3:05 p.m.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami enters play this weekend with an impressive overall record of 26-6. The RedHawks and Central Michigan lead the MAC with 7-2 league records. MU is 9-1 over its last 10 games. Miami is 12-6 in games played away from Oxford in 2019, including a 9-4 mark in true road games. Miami ranks second in the MAC in batting average (.302) and runs scored (244), while also ranking second in ERA (3.58).

SERIES HISTORY
• Miami leads the all-time series with Bowling Green, 100-67.
• Bowling Green will be in search of its first series victory over Miami since 2015. The Falcons won the final two games of the three-game series in 2015 to claim the weekend series.
• Last season, the Falcons took the middle game of the three-game set in Oxford. Miami won the series opener and series finale to win the MAC series.

HEROES WEEKEND
The BGSU Baseball and BGSU Softball teams will be celebrating Heroes Weekend in Bowling Green this weekend. Bowling Green will be honoring all current, past and future members of the military. Over the weekend, the baseball team will have a couple of special ceremonial first pitches.

Saturday First Pitch – Cadet CJ Helter
Cadet Helter will be graduating from BGSU and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in May. Following graduation, he will be assigned to Sheppard AFB, Texas where he will attend Euro-NATO Joint Fighter Pilot training.

Sunday First Pitch – Cadet Roger Knizat
Cadet Knizat will be graduating from BGSU and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in May. Following graduation, he will be assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington as a Special Operations Forward Tactical Air Controller.

BATMAN DAY
In conjunction with the Batman in Popular Culture Conference that is taking place at the Jerome Library over the weekend, Saturday will serve as Batman Day at Steller Field. Batman trivia and themed music will be part of the festivities.

IMPROVEMENT ALL AROUND THE DIAMOND
• With its win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday (April 10), BGSU totaled its 12th win of the season, which is one more win than the Falcons earned all of last season.
• Bowling Green's .266 batting average is 10 points higher than its 2018 total. The Falcons have also experienced improved run production. The Falcons scored 202 runs in 2018, and are on pace to score 238 runs in 2019.
• Over BGSU's last 12 games, the Falcons have scored 10-plus runs a total of four times. In Bowling Green's 50 games last season, BGSU totaled 10-plus runs three times.
• The Falcon pitching staff owns a team ERA of 5.25, which ranks fifth in the MAC. BGSU has six regular pitchers with ERA's below 5.25. In 2018, the Falcons finished with a 6.76 ERA and had just three pitchers with ERA's sub-5.25.

Following Bowling Green's 10-4 win at Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday (April 10), the Falcons have now won three-straight midweek games. The Falcons are now 4-1 in midweek ballgames on the season, and have only lost to Purdue of the Big Ten Conference. Bowling Green has scored 10-plus runs in each of its last three midweek contests.
