DAYTON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team travels to Dayton on Tuesday (April 23) to take on the Wright State Raiders. First pitch from Nischwitz Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Falcons have just three midweek games remaining in 2019.
Â
Bowling Green is 3-2 in midweek games this season, with its only losses coming to Big Ten schools on the road at Purdue (March 20) and Michigan (April 17). The Falcons have picked up non-conference wins during the midweek against Youngstown State (March 26), Dayton (April 3) and Purdue Fort Wayne (April 10).
Â
Wright State is 27-13 on the season and 11-7 in Horizon League play. The Raiders are hitting .301 as a team, led by eight players with batting averages above .300. Wright State has posted an impressive home record of 27-13 on the campaign. WSU holds a 29-24-1 advantage in the all-time series with Bowling Green.
Â
With 12 conference games remaining, Bowling Green sits two games back of a spot in the MAC Tournament. The Falcons have a lot of opportunities to climb the standings, as all 12 ballgames are versus teams above BGSU.
Â
This past weekend, Western Michigan took two-of-three games from the Falcons at Steller Field. BGSU's pitching staff carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the series finale, but the Broncos scored three runs in the eighth inning to come from behind and win the series. Ty Suntken hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Falcons a victory in the middle game.

COACH SCHMITZ QUOTE
"Wright State has been a tremendous program for a long time, and this year is no different. This will be a big test for our team and a good way to prepare for this weekend's series at Ball State. We have been in nearly every ballgame this season, and we just have to try and keep finding ways to improve and win those close games."
