Falcons Even Series With 7-4 Victory At Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team evened its three-game series at Eastern Michigan University by picking up a 7-4 victory on Saturday (April 6) afternoon. The series rubber match is set for tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
Bowling Green moves to 11-15 on the campaign with the win. The Falcons are 5-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Eastern Michigan drops to 6-24-1 (1-7 MAC) in 2019 with the loss.
With EMU up 2-1 after two innings, the Falcons changed the complexion of the ballgame with a four-run third inning. Brad Croy, who drive in BG's first run of the game in the top of the first, knotted the score at 2-2 with a double down the left field line. After Adam Furnas singled to plate another BGSU run, Riley Minorik gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead with a two-run double into left-centerfield.
Eastern Michigan scored one run apiece in each of the first three innings, but the Falcons answered yet again with a two-run fifth. A throwing error scored Neil Lambert, and then Ryan Johnston gave Bowling Green a 7-3 advantage with an RBI single into right field.
Freshman Tyler Hays picked up the second win of his collegiate career, as he tossed 5.0 innings of three-run ball. Hays struck out three. David Stopp was fantastic in relief for the Orange and Brown. The southpaw surrendered just one hit and one run over 3.1 innings of work while carving up four EMU batters. Jeremy Spezia recorded the final two outs of the contest to nail down the win for Bowling Green.
The Falcons recorded 14 hits on the afternoon. Minorik, Furnas, Joe McGuinness, Dylan Dohanos and Jake Wilson each registered two hits for Bowling Green.
