Rose Earns First Collegiate Win In Goal As Falcons Sweep Alaska Anchorage

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio  - The Bowling Green State University hockey team captured the weekend sweep over Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night (Feb. 8) behind a 4-1 victory. Freshman goalie Zack Rose received the start between the pipes, logging his first collegiate win with 10 saves. Offensively, the Falcons lit the lamp four times, each score being by a different player, to control the game. The win moves Bowling Green's record to 15-13-2 on the season while being 10-10-2-2 in the WCHA.Â
Next Home Game: The Falcons return to Slater Family Ice Arena on Feb. 21 to host Ferris State for a weekend series with both Friday and Saturday set for 7:07 p.m. puck drops. The second game of the series, on Feb. 22, will be Senior Night for the Falcons while the team will also recognize the program's 50th Anniversary

Scoring Plays
- The Seawolves lit the lamp first on the night with Luc Brown scoring with assists from Zach Nazzarett and Tanner Schachle.
- Bowling Green answered before the period ended, seeing Casey Linkenheld net a goal for the Falcons. He was assisted by Frederic Letourneau and Connor Ford on the score.
- Early in the second period the Falcons took control with a power play goal to claim the lead. Tim Theocharidis found the back of the net with a snipe, being assisted by Taylor Schneider and Letourneau, marking Letourneau's second assist of the game.Â
- Adam Conquest added to the lead for the Orange and Brown in the period. Just a second before the power play ended for the Falcons, Conquest put the puck in the net for the third BGSU goal of the night and second on the power play. Adam Pitters had the lone assist on the goal.Â
- The Falcons weren't quite done yet in the scoring column. With just under nine minutes remaining in the game, Sam Craggs scored to add insurance for Bowling Green. Jacob Dalton and Theocharidis were credited with the assists.Â
Other Key Plays
- The game began quickly, playing straight to the first media timeout with few stoppages prior. This became a trend in the game as the Seawolves ended up landing just 11 shots on goal over the course of the night.Â
- The first power play of the game didn't come until five minutes remained in the first period and resulted in a man advantage for Bowling Green.Â
- Although the Falcons didn't score on their first power play, they did on their second and later third, adding on to their power play goal total that tops the nation's list.Â
- As the second period was nearing its close, Craggs was called for a tripping penalty that carried over to the third period, marking the first power play of the game for UAA. Bowling Green was able to ward off the power play to make the Seawolves scoreless with the advantage on the night.Â
- Between the second and third periods, Bowling Green played host to a proposal at the Slater Family Ice Arena. She said yes!
Falcon Stat Facts
- In goal for the Falcons, Rose tallied his first collegiate win between the pipes, registering 10 saves in the game for the Orange and Brown.Â
- The 11 shots on goal by the Seawolves ties a season-low for the Falcons' opponent on the year, matching the mark by Alabama Huntsville on Dec. 6.Â
- Letourneau's two-assist performance gives him three games this season with multiple assists, tying him for the team lead with Alex Barber and Alec Rauhauser.
- Conquest's second period goal was his third of the season, extending his lead among Falcon freshmen. With the assist, Pitters registered his fifth point, giving him the lead among Falcon freshmen in that category.
- Tim Theochardis scored a goal and tallied an assist, marking his first multiple-point game of the season and second of his career.Â
- With just one penalty on the night, the Falcons registered the fewest minutes served in the penalty box so far this season with two minutes on the penalty kill.Â

- Bowling Green will face the other Alaska team, being Fairbanks, next weekend, traveling to face the Nanooks. The two game series see both games start at 11:07 p.m. EST.Â
