Each week, the BGSU Strategic Communications Department breaks down the week ahead in athletics and recaps the week gone by. Listed below are all games over the course of the next seven days with links and information for fans. Following that info are recaps, scores and links from games over the past week.
THE WEEK AHEAD
WOMEN'S GOLF
March 29-30 at Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational (Huntsville, Texas)Â |Â @BGWomensGolf
The women's golf team is scheduled to compete in its third event of the spring this week. Bowling Green is traveling to Texas to take part in the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational. Competing for the Orange and Brown will be Kayla Davis, Nichole Cox, Emily Pantig-Nystrom, Danielle Austinson, Erin Korn and Savannah Wyrick. Following this event, the Falcons will be busy in April. The 10th annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational will take place at Stone Ridge Golf Club over April 10-11, prior to the MAC Championships being staged in Stow, Ohio across April 23-24.

The Falcons return to Cochrane Stadium for a pair of matches this week, closing the home portion of the abbreviated regular-season schedule with matches against Akron on Thursday night and Buffalo Sunday afternoon. BGSU leads the MAC's East Division with a 5-1-0 record, and the Falcons have outscored opponents by a 15-2 count, including 10-0 over the last three games. BG downed Akron, 3-0, in the regular-season opener, but the Falcons suffered a 2-1 loss at Buffalo, the team's lone setback of the season entering this week. Last week, Madi Wolfbauer scored two more goals in BGSU's lone contest, a 3-0 win at Ohio. Wolfbauer has scored five goals over the last three games, and she is the first Falcon with back-to-back multiple-goal games in over a decade (since Alyssa Zuccaro in September of 2010). Katie Cox scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal for the second-straight game, while Lili Berg and the BGSU defense kept a clean sheet for the fifth time in six matches. BGSU is now 25-3-0 in MAC regular-season games since the start of the 2018 season.
TENNIS (8-4, 4-2 MAC)

The Bowling Green tennis program will be back on their home courts this Friday (April 2) to host the second Battle of I-75 match of the season. The Falcons will enter with an 8-4 record, being 4-2 in MAC play and 5-0 when playing at home. The Falcons and Rockets faced just recently on March 21 in a match that saw the Orange and Brown snag a 4-3 win on the road. In that match, the Falcons rallied to tally four singles points to get the win. As for the opposition, they will enter with a 7-7 overall record while being 2-3 in the conference so far this season.
OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Following a strong weekend at two of the most prestigious meets in the country, the BGSU Outdoor Track & Field Team heads to Cincinnati for a two-day meet. The Falcons' 1600 relay team broke the school record twice over the weekend, includiing posting the fastest time in the Mid-American Conference in nine years. Katerina Shuble (1500), Iyanna Ross (400), the 400 relay team (Savannah Nevels, Jemeila Hunter, Ryen Draper and Brianna Richard), Zaresha Neal (shot put) and Ebonie Whitted (shot put) also posted performances that rank among the top 10 in program history.

The Bowling Green volleyball program will begin postseason play this weekend with the MAC Tournament. The Falcons will face the Miami RedHawks in the Semifinals on Friday (April 2) at 4:30 p.m. with the chance to advance to the MAC Championship, which would be played on Saturday (April 3) at 5 p.m. Bowling Green ended the regular season with two sweeps over Buffalo to finish out with a 20-1 record. The Falcons and RedHawks met earlier this season for two matches at the Stroh Center. In the first match, the Falcons captured a three-set sweep over the RedHawks, including a 12-1 run in the first set. As for the second match, Miami jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Falcons overcame the deficit to win in five-sets in a 3-2 final score.Â

The Falcons return home for a four-game series with Akron. As is the case every weekend in conference play, the teams are scheduled to meet in single games Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday. There will be live stats available for all four games, with a free video stream available for Saturday's twinbill. A pair of middle infielders have been hot at the plate for the Falcons since the MAC season got underway. Shortstop Madi McCoy is hitting .520 in BGSU's eight conference games, with 13 hits in 25 at-bats vs. league competition so far. Second baseman Sammy Dees hit .500 in last weekend's Ball State series, and is now batting .364 in MAC play. The massive 40-game MAC schedule sees BGSU slated to play each of the other 10 MAC teams four times each. In addition to Akron, BGSU has home series remaining with Miami (April 30-May 1) and Kent State (May 14-16), and road trips to Buffalo (April 9-11), Ohio (April 16-18) and Northern Illinois (May 7-9). The Falcons will play two midweek doubleheaders each vs. Toledo (away on April 20, home on April 28) and Western Michigan (home on May 4, away on May 12).

Bowling Green hosts Kent State next weekend for Steller Field at Gary Haas Stadium Opening Weekend. The four-game series will take place over April 2-4, beginning with the home opener on Friday at 3:05 p.m. The Friday and Sunday games will be video streamed for free. Live stats will be provided for all four ballgames. The Falcons have opened Mid-American Conference play with consecutive series victories for the first time in 20 years. Bowling Green is 6-2 in league play after winning the final three games of its series at Akron over the weekend. On MAC opening weekend, the Falcons took three-of-four contests at Ohio. Bowling Green, Miami and Ball State are the only teams in the league with 6-2 records. Kent State received more first-place votes than any other MAC team in the conference's preseason poll. The Golden Flashes are 1-3 in MAC play, having dropped three-of-four games to Northern Illinois a few weekends ago.

The men's soccer Falcons are riding a three-match winning streak, and BG has also posted three consecutive shutouts heading into Sunday's matchup at SIUE. The Falcons have blanked three-straight MAC opponents for the first time since 2012, including 1-0 wins on the road at West Virginia and Northern Illinois. Logan Kowalczyk made three saves in each game as he and the BG back line kept the Mountaineers and Huskies off of the scoreboard. Jacob Erlandson scored the lone goal in Morgantown, while Naperville native Chris Sullivan registered the only goal of the NIU game in his home state. Sullivan has a team-leading 10 points, and has been involved in the scoring of seven of BGSU's eight goals this season to date. In the teams' first meeting, BGSU outshot SIUE, 19-1, but the contest was scoreless until a Sullivan 'Golden Goal' at Cochrane Stadium. Entering the SIUE rematch, the Falcons are 23-12-3 over the last 38 contests, dating to late in the 2018 season.
