Scoring Plays
- The Falcons scored the lone goal of the opening frame, taking advantage of the 5-on-3 power play. Chase Gresock fed the puck to Taylor Schneider, then the forwards traded places at the point. Schneider sent it down to Alex Barber, who was waiting at the bottom of the right circle. He collected the puck and sent it at the net, where Nathan Burke was positioned perfectly in the crease to knock it in on the redirect.
- In the second period, BGSU extended the lead with an Alex Barber goal. After an unsuccessful attempt to clear the puck, Adam Pitters poked it away from the Lakers. He and Spencer Schneider exchanged a couple quick passes in the neutral zone, then Pitters fired it to the corner as he crossed the blue line. It kicked off the boards and trickled back through the left circle. It made its way through a trio of Lakers and found the stick of Barber, who had just come on for a new shift. His shot went over Hesse's stick for the goal, which stood after LSSU challenged for too many men on the ice.
- After the teams traded penalties for a few minutes, Lake Superior State scored an even strength goal. A Jack Jeffers shot from the left circle was saved by Stoever, but the rebound made its way out of the crease. A pile of bodies led to the puck rolling out to Connor Milburn, who snuck a shot five-hole for LSSU's first score of the night.
- Bowling Green opened the third period with 1:20 left on their power play and was advantageous once again. Zach Vinnell dropped the puck down to Chase Gresock, who passed to Alex Barber at the goal line. He pushed it back to Vinnell, who sent a cross-ice pass to Taylor Schneider. His one-timer for the right dot whistled by Hesse for the power play goal.
- A few minutes later, the Falcons added to the lead. On the forecheck, Chase Gresock squeezed the puck away along the boards, finding Austen Swankler in the corner. He hit a crashing Ryan O'Hara in stride, who fired a close-range shot to extend the lead.
- Shortly after that, the Falcons converted on yet another power play chance. Dalton Norris sent the puck from the right dot to the blue line, hitting fellow defenseman Ben Wozney. His cross-ice pass landed on the stick of Swankler, who made another nifty pass, this time to Norris. The freshman sent a scorching one-timer past Hesse for his first collegiate goal and Bowling Green's third power play tally of the evening.
- Alex Barber tallied his fourth goal and sixth assist, giving him 10 points. This marks his second consecutive multi-point night, bringing his season total to four, which ranks second on the team. He leads all active Falcons with 21 career multi-point efforts. His goal was the game-winner, his first of the year and team-best 10th of his career. He ranks third among active NCAA players in game-winning tallies. Barber has 39 goals and 56 assists for 95 points in his career.
- Austen Swankler notched a career-best three assists, the first three-assist game of the season for any Falcon. This extends his point total to a team-best 18. He leads the team in goals (8) and shares the lead in assists (10). Swankler has 28 assists and 44 points in his career. This was his fifth multi-point effort of the year and 10th of his career. This also marked his third career multi-assist game.
- Chase Gresock notched a pair of assists for the second time this season, bringing his total to 10. He has 14 points on the season. The senior has 48 career assists and 87 career points, with tonight marking his third multi-point game of the year.
- Nathan Burke continued his hot streak with a power play goal, his third of the season. He has six goals and 10 points this season, and 35 goals and 61 points in his career. This was his 11th career power play goal. The senior has six goals and three assists in the last seven games.
- Taylor Schneider scored his first power play goal of the season, giving him 12 in his career. The senior has 38 goals and 94 points in his career, with eight points coming in the last seven games.
