Falcons Fall Short In Pitcher's Duel With Golden Grizzlies
April 05, 2022 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball program went head-to-head with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies for a pitcher's duel on Tuesday (April 5). The Falcons rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to knot it up at 2-2 in the seventh, but an Oakland run in the bottom of eighth pushed the Golden Grizzlies back in front for the 3-2 final. On the mound, Jeremy Spezia offered four innings in the starter role, giving up just a pair of runs on three hits. Isaiah Seidel took over from there, allowing one unearned run over 3.2 innings while striking out six.
The Falcons offense was highlighted by an RBI triple from Nathan Archer, his fourth of the season that stands atop of the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons will return to action this weekend on the road against Kent State. The four-game series is set to begin on Friday (April 8) with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adam Furnas was hit by a pitch to begin the inning before being out on a fielder's choice that allowed Tyler Ross to reach first. Nathan Rose joined Ross on the bases, being hit by a pitch as well, setting up another fielder's choice knock, this time by Zack Horky, that allowed Ross to score on an error.
- Nathan Archer continued the rally for the Falcons by ripping a triple to deep right center, bringing around Horky to tie it up at 2-2.
- A single in the bottom of the eighth for Oakland pushed a run across, giving the Golden Grizzlies a 3-2 lead.
