BGSU Baseball Closes Out Weekend Series Against Nationally-Ranked Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team closed out the weekend series against No. 5 Louisville on Sunday (Feb. 26). The two teams entered the game with the series knotted up after a 9-6 BGSU win on Saturday. A six-run sixth inning highlighted a 14-1 Louisville win in the series rubber match, moving Bowling Green to 2-4 through the first two series of the season.
For the Falcons, Bowling Green's lone run of the game came in the third inning. Anthony Toma and Ryan Johnston both singled to put two runners on for Nathan Archer who delivered an RBI single to put the Orange and Brown on the board.

The Falcons will have one more non-conference series before jumping into conference play. Next weekend, Bowling Green will head to Evansville, Ind. for a four-game weekend series against the Evansville Aces. BGSU and Evansville will play one game Friday, a doubleheader Saturday and one on Sunday. Friday is scheduled for a 4 p.m. EST start.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the bottom of the first, Peyton Wilson forced three ground outs, but gave up a solo home run to Louisville's Ryan McCoy, McCoy's fourth home run through seven games this season.
- Louisville added to their lead in the second inning, scoring three to push the score to 4-0 after two.
- The Falcons found the scoring column in the top of the third. Anthony Toma and Ryan Johnston singled to start the inning, putting runners at the corners. Nathan Archer followed with another single, scoring Toma to make it 4-1.
- The Cardinals added a tally in the fifth inning to increase their lead to 5-1.
- Bowling Green put two on in the fifth, but a pitching change for Louisville resulted in no damage, keeping the score at 5-1 through five.
- Louisville logged six runs in the bottom of the sixth to push their advantage to 11-1.
- The lead stretched to 13-1 Louisville with two more runs in the seventh before reaching 14-1 in the eighth for the eventual final.
