Bowling Green, Evansville Set For Four-Game Weekend Series

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will continue the non-conference schedule with a four-game slate at Evansville this weekend. The series will mark the last non-conference test for BGSU before the Mid-American Conference schedule kicks into gear next weekend against the Ohio Bobcats. The Falcons enter the series with a 2-4 record on the season, taking a win from both Tennessee Tech and No. 5 Louisville earlier this season.

The weekend schedule was altered due to forecasted rain in Evansville. Friday's game has been moved to Sunday with the Falcons and Aces playing a doubleheader on both Saturday and Sunday. The first game of each day will be seven innings followed by a nine-inning second game. Should the first game either day go to extra innings, the second game will become a seven-inning game. The second game each day will begin approximately 45 minutes after the first game.
Scouting Evansville
Evansville is coming off a midweek win over SEMO, taking a 14-8 final on Wednesday (March 1). The win extended a three-game win streak for the Aces after winning two of three against Eastern Michigan last weekend. The stretch of wins was welcomed by Evansville after beginning the season 0-5, being swept by Troy, losing to Kentucky and starting the series against EMU with a loss.
Against Evansville All-Time
Bowling Green and Evansville have met 10 times previously, dating back to 1998. The Aces lead the series with a record of 7-3 against BGSU. The Falcons won the first meeting by a score of 8-6, needing extra innings to snag the victory on March 12, 1998. The last meeting in the series was on March 7, 2018. Evansville won a close 3-2 final. The last BGSU win in the series was on March 12, 2014 in a 4-2 final in Winter Haven, Fla.

Saturday's game saw the Falcons tally nine runs, including a four-run eighth inning, to top the Cardinals. Over the course of the three-game series the Orange and Brown were paced by Tyler Ross at the plate, batting .364 with three RBI. As for the mound, Luke Krouse, Rigo Ramos, Connar Penrod and Owen Recker all posted scoreless outings while Gage Schenk gave up just two runs over six innings.
