Falcons Return To The Road Tuesday For First Of Five Straight Road Games

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will head back on the road for their next five games, beginning on Tuesday (March 28) against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. Scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch, Tuesday's game will mark the second game of the home-and-home series between Bowling Green and Purdue Fort Wayne. The first game was played at Steller Field in Bowling Green last Tuesday (March 21) with the Orange and Brown claiming an 8-6 win. BGSU will enter the game with an 8-13 record with wins in five of their last six games.

Game One Of The Series
The Falcons and Mastodons played the first game of the home-and-home on Tuesday (March 21) at Steller Field with the Orange and Brown claiming an 8-6 victory. The game was tied 4-4 through four innings, but the Falcons scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth to jump ahead for the win. Kyle Gurney led the way, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, a double and a home run. Gavin Ganun added a 3-for-4 day as well with two runs scored, one RBI, one double and one home run. On the mound, Connar Penrod recorded the win with Owen Recker tallying the save.
Scouting Purdue Fort Wayne
Since the first meeting between the two teams, Purdue Fort Wayne played a three-game series against Northern Kentucky, winning the first two games before falling in the third. Despite winning the series, the Mastodons were outscored 20-16 over the three game series. The second win for Purdue Fort Wayne came thanks to a seventh inning grand slam to tie the game, sparking what would be a 9-5 win for the Mastodons. On the season, Purdue Fort Wayne enters with a 6-18 record while being 3-3 in the Horizon League.

The Falcons and Mastodons have played 18 times previously with Bowling Green holding the advantage, 13-5. BGSU has won four straight over Purdue Fort Wayne as well as seven of the last eight.
