Falcons Return Home To Steller Field This Weekend To Host Third-Place Kent State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will be back at home this weekend, hosting the Kent State Golden Flashes for a three-game series at Steller Field. The Falcons and Golden Flashes are set for a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday (April 7) before 1 p.m. starts on both Saturday (April 8) and Sunday (April 9). Sunday's game will also be available for fans to stream on both BCSN2 and ESPN+. BGSU enters the series holding a record of 11-14 while being 6-6 within the MAC and winners in eight of their last 10.

Scouting Kent State
Kent State will head into the weekend series with an 18-10 record and 6-3 MAC standing, currently third in the conference. The Golden Flashes are coming off a midweek loss to Ohio State, falling 7-6, after taking two of three from Toledo last weekend. As a team, the Golden Flashes are currently in the top three in the conference for stolen bases with three players in double-digits. At the plate, they are led by junior Aidan Longwell who is batting .385 while leading the team in doubles (13) and RBI (41) with a .641 slugging percentage and just 11 strikeouts in 117 at-bats.

The Falcons followed it up with a come-from-behind win on Saturday (April 1), scoring two in the top of the ninth to record a 3-2 victory. The Orange and Brown attempted to do the same on Sunday (April 2) but only pushed one run across in the ninth, falling 4-3.

- Nathan Rose is coming off a MAC Co-Player of the Week award, the first of his collegiate career. Rose is currently in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak, logging multiple hits in five of those games, and a 13-game on-base streak. During his hitting streak, Rose is batting .375 (15-for-40) with 18 RBI, eight runs scored, four home runs, three doubles, two walks drawn and a triple.
- Bowling Green has recorded 49 stolen bases this year, averaging 1.96 per game. Entering the week, the total mark was tied for 34th in the nation while the per game average was 25th in the nation. Both the total and average are third in the conference behind Kent State and Eastern Michigan.
- As a team, the Falcons have logged 16 sacrifice bunts in the season, tied for 39th in the nation and third in the MAC behind Miami (OH) and Kent State.
- Kyle Gurney heads into the week riding an 11-game hitting streak. During the 11 games, Gurney is batting .450 (18-for-40) with 11 walks drawn, 10 runs scored, nine RBI, three doubles, three stolen bases and one home run.
