Falcons Set To Wrap Up Non-Conference Schedule Tuesday At Youngstown State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will wrap up the 2023 non-conference schedule on Tuesday (May 9) with a 5 p.m. first pitch against Youngstown State. The game will also mark the final standalone midweek game of the season for Bowling Green. The Falcons and Penguins will conclude a home-and-home series for the season after YSU came to Bowling Green on March 22 in a game the Falcons won 18-6.

Scouting Youngstown State
Since the last meeting against the Falcons, the Penguins have put together a record of 10-16, but are in the midst of a seven-game winning streak. Youngstown State swept Purdue Fort Wayne and Milwaukee in addition to an 8-5 win over Akron that started the streak. Trey Law leads the Penguins, batting .360 and is second in doubles (14) as well. Braeden O'Shaughnessy follows with a mark of .303 while being tied for second in home runs, tied for third in doubles, and third in RBI.

The Falcons have played the Penguins 18 times in program history but the results have gone the other way with Youngstown State leading the series 12-6. Despite the overall series leaning to Youngstown State, Bowling Green has won the last three matchups. In 2020, BGSU snagged a 2-1 win on the road and in 2019 the Falcons picked up a 15-5 victory at home. Earlier this season, the Orange and Brown topped the Penguins 18-6 at Steller Field, scoring 14 runs across the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
