First-Place Falcons Set For Saturday Doubleheader, Single-Game Sunday Against CMU At Home

BGSU Enters Weekend 12-0 In MAC, 4-0 At Home
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will continue their nine-game homestand this weekend with a trio of contests against the Central Michigan Chippewas. After a schedule change due to weather, BGSU and CMU are set for a Saturday (April 13) doubleheader before concluding the series on Sunday (April 14). The doubleheader will be Little League Day and is set for a noon start. As for Sunday, the game is currently scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch at Steller Field. The Falcons enter the series first in the Mid-American Conference and the only undefeated team left in conference play (12-0).

Scouting Central Michigan
Central Michigan heads into the weekend with a 5-10 record within the MAC and 11-22 overall. The Chippewas picked up a 10-0 win in seven innings over Michigan State in the midweek and took one of three from Toledo last weekend in conference play. In MAC play, only Kent State has managed to sweep CMU with the Chippewas taking one from Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan and Toledo and two games from Ohio.

One Of Seven In The Nation
The Falcons are one of just seven teams in the nation currently to be in the Top 40 for both home runs per game and triples per game. BGSU is joined on the short list by Virginia Tech, Florida State, Oregon State, Notre Dame, Wright State and Saint Mary's (CA). So far this season, Bowling Green is averaging 1.74 home runs per game which leads the Mid-American Conference and is ranked 25th in the nation. As for triples, BGSU is averaging 0.33 per game, tied for second in the MAC and 40th in the nation.
Strong Start To MAC Play
The Falcons are currently 12-0 in the MAC for the first time in program history. Additionally, the streak includes the first time in program history BGSU has swept four-straight MAC opponents. This weekend will mark the midway point of the MAC season for the Falcons and BGSU is already one win away from matching their MAC win total from the 2023 season and two shy of the 2022 total. In MAC play, BGSU is averaging 13.3 runs per game. Second is Kent State's 9.6.
High-Scoring Falcons
As a team, the Falcons enter the weekend averaging 9.4 runs per game, which not only leads the MAC but ranks 12th in the nation. In BGSU's 27 games played this season the Falcons have scored at least seven runs in 18 games and have reached at least 10 runs in 11 games. Bowling Green's 34 runs on the road against Ball State remain the most runs scored in a game by any team in the country this season. Since 2019, a Division I team has scored 34+ runs in a game just nine times. The last time a MAC team scored 30+ was Western Michigan's 32 in 2020.
