
Wright, Ross And Roque Rake Falcons To Doubleheader Sweep Over Central

Falcons Move To 14-0 In MAC Play, 6-0 At Home
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
- DJ Newman began the game on the mound, working a one-two-three top of the first, including a strikeout, for the Falcons.
- In the bottom half of the first, Sam Seidel hit a one-out double into shallow left field for the first hit of the day. Tyler Ross brought him home with a single into the right center gap for a 1-0 BGSU lead.
- Central Michigan added one run in the top of the third to tie the game at 1-1.
- Bowling Green brought their answer in the bottom half with a two-out rally. Ross doubled to right followed by walks to Jack Krause and Leighton Banjoff to load the bases. TJ Takats stepped in and hit a two-RBI single to first for a 3-1 score with runners still at the corners.
- In the next at-bat, Landon Roque drew a walk with the fourth ball being a wild pitch to score Banjoff from third for a 4-1 BGSU lead and a Central Michigan pitching change.
- After the change, Garrett Wright welcomed the new pitcher with a single up the middle, scoring Takats from second to stretch the score to 5-1 Falcons through three innings.
- A solo home run for the Chippewas in the top of the fourth added a run to their tally for a 5-2 score.
- The Falcons quickly answered once again. Newman legged out an infield single on a high hopper up the middle followed by a Ross single to center to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch moved Ross to second. Banjoff found a hole in the left side of the infield to score both runners for a 7-2 BGSU advantage.
- The back-and-forth continued with back-to-back solo home runs for Central to begin the top of the fifth, cutting the score to 7-4.
- Roque began the bottom of the fifth with a double into the right center gap, clanging off the wall. Wright followed with a single through the left side and advanced on the throw to put runners on second and third. Seidel put a ball in play that was enough to score Roque for an 8-4 BGSU lead.
- Central Michigan added a three-run home run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 8-7, prompting the second pitching change of the inning.
- The next run in the game was for the Orange and Brown. Takats drew a walk to start the inning and took second on a wild pitch. Wright ripped a double into the left center gap to score Takats and bring on a CMU pitching change.
- The Chippewas added a run in the eighth for the eventual 10-8 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
- A leadoff hit-by-pitch came around to put Central Michigan on the board first with a 1-0 lead after the top of the first.
- BGSU answered in the bottom half. Three consecutive hits from Garrett Wright, Tyler Ross and Landon Roque loaded the bases for the Falcons. With two outs, Leighton Banjoff blasted a grand slam over the left field fence to regain the lead for Bowling Green, 4-1.
- In the bottom of the second, Caden Parker began the inning with a hit-by-pitch. A Wright walk followed to put two on with a Ross single scoring Parker. Roque grounded into a fielder's choice resulting in Wright coming around to score, pushing the BGSU advantage to 6-1.
- The Chippewas answered back with a two-run homer to left field in the third and added two more in the top of the fourth to cut the BGSU lead down to 6-5 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
- Nathan Archer added an insurance run for the Orange and Brown with a solo shot over the right field fence, making the score 7-5 through four played.
- In the fifth, the Chippewas capitalized on a throwing error on a steal attempt to close the gap to 7-6.
- Roque started the bottom of the fifth with a single through the left side of the infield. That was followed by a Jack Krause walk, prompting a pitching change from Central Michigan with no outs in the inning.
- Banjoff welcomed the new pitcher with a single to right field but Roque was tagged out at home trying to score. With one out, TJ Takats singled up the middle, bringing Krause around to score.
- Later in the inning, Parker had an infield single to score Banjoff, adding the second run of the inning to increase the BGSU lead to 9-6 after five innings.
- Seidel tossed a scoreless sixth inning to keep the BGSU lead at 9-6.
- Ross was able to draw a one-out walk followed by a double to left field by Roque, putting runners on second and third. A sacrifice fly from Krause added a run for the Falcons to make it a 10-6 advantage going into the seventh.
- After a scoreless seventh, Central Michigan chipped away at the lead with a solo home run, cutting the lead to 10-7.
- That was the final run of the game with Jacob Turner taking over on the mound for BGSU and logging the save.

FALCON STAT FACTS
- As a team, the Falcons have now scored 10+ runs in 13 games this season and 7+ runs in 20 games.
- BGSU's 6-0 record at home is the team's best home start since 2006 when they started the home schedule 7-0. However, the 2006 stretch included wins over Division-III Heidelberg and Division-II Findlay. All of BGSU's six wins this season have come against Division-I opponents, including five against MAC teams.
- Sam Seidel hit a double in the first inning of game one to stretch his on-base streak to 27 games this season, accounting for every game he's played, and 38 dating back to last season.
- Jack Krause drew a walk in the first inning of game one and one in the fifth inning of game two to continue his on-base streak for the Falcons to 19 games, the second-longest streak on the team.
- TJ Takats singled in the bottom of the third in game one and again in the fifth inning of game two to push his on-base streak to 18 games for the Falcons.
- DJ Newman legged out an infield single in the fourth to push his hitting streak to seven games.
- Drawing a walk in the third inning of game one and hitting a first inning grand slam in game two, Leighton Banjoff has now reached base in six straight games and has scored in five straight. The grand slam was the third by a Falcon this season and the second of the week.
- In the first game of the day, Garrett Wright hit a career-high four base hits in the game, including a pair of RBI. He finished the day 5-for-8 with three runs scored, two RBI and a double.
- Landon Roque posted a multiple-hit game in both games of the doubleheader, his third and fourth multi-hit games in the last five contests.
- Tyler Ross finished the day with five hits, logging three in game one and two in game two. Ross has now reached base in 22 of his 23 games played this year for the Falcons and has a hit in four of the last five.
- Nathan Archer hit a home run in the second game of the day, his team-leading 10th of the season. The total already marks a new career-high for Archer, surpassing his nine from last season which led the team.
- Jacob Turner logged his team-leading second save of the season and now has three for his BGSU career.
- Isaiah Seidel pitched 3.2 innings of relief in game two, his longest outing since going four innings last season against Western Michigan. The effort earned Seidel his first win of the season and his first as a Falcon.
