What To Watch For
Wright Spot At The Wright Time
Through 43 career games, sophomore catcher Garrett Wright has already entered the program's top 10 for career hit-by-pitches. As a Falcon, Wright has drawn 23 HBPs, tying with Jack Krause (2020-24) and Kurt Wells (2004-07) for ninth in program history. Last year, Wright was hit by a pitch 21 times, setting the program record for a single-season. During the opening series of the 2025 season he was plunked two more times. Now, he sits just nine shy of breaking the program record for a career, set by TJ Blanton with 32 from 2007-10. Wright also extended his on-base streak in the process, now at a team-best 11 games going back to last season with the Falcons.
Gone From Ganun
In the comeback win over Middle Tennessee in the series finale last weekend, Gavin Ganun produced a two-home run game for the Falcons. His pair of blasts accounted for four of BGSU's first six runs in the game on their way to overcoming the 8-1 deficit. The game marked his second career multi-home run game, blasting two last season in the series finale against Miami (OH) on March 10, 2024. For his career, Ganun now has 11 home runs for the Orange and Brown, tied for the most of anyone on the current active roster. He's currently tied with DJ Newman atop the list followed by Sam Seidel with 10.
Strong Bullpen Showings
During the opening series of the season, the Falcons had a handful of strong appearances out of the bullpen. Owen Poole tallied his first career save in BGSU's first win of the season. Additionally, four different Falcons exited the weekend with a 0.00 ERA still intact after making appearances. Connar Penrod, Ty Roder and Titus Lotz all produced two scoreless innings for the Falcons against MTSU, including Penrod recording the series finale win. Logan Bell joined the list as well, tossing one scoreless frame during the series. The quartet combined for eight strikeouts.
