BGSU Swipes Eight Stolen Bases, Most In At Least 25 Years
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tiffin used a two-out rally in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.
- Griffin Scheiderer drew a leadoff walk, took second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch to move into scoring position. A single to right from Sam Seidel scored Scheiderer for a 1-1 tie.
- The Dragons scored two in the second for a 3-1 score.
- In the third inning, Seidel doubled to right field, later taking third on a wild pitch. A fly out by Vinny Salvione was deep enough to score Seidel to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- Tiffin answered with a solo home run in the fourth and another run in the fifth to push the score to 5-2.
- Alex Laird led off the inning with an infield single before stealing second. A grounder moved Laird to third with a Seidel walk. A double steal resulted in Laird scoring to make it 5-3 after five.
- The Falcons put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth. Walks to both Carter Mottice and Chase Chopin set up an RBI single from Laird for a 5-4 score.
- To begin the bottom of the eighth Zack Horky sent a solo shot to left to tie it 5-5. Lance Vickers and Mottice followed with singles. A double steal later in the frame moved them into scoring position before an RBI from Laird scored Vickers for a 6-5 score.
- Tiffin scored one in the top of the ninth to tie the score, 6-6, forcing the bottom of the ninth.
- Seidel led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk, and then stole second. That led to a walk-off single from Brayden Curlis down the third base line to score Seidel for the 7-6 final.

FALCON STAT FACTS
- As a team, Bowling Green stole eight bases, marking the first game with five or more since logging five against Dayton on March 19, 2025 and the most in over 25 seasons with BGSU's online game-by-game team stats dating back to 2001 without a game of eight stolen bases or more. However, BGSU's stolen bases record is set at 27 from April 22, 1921 against Findlay.
- Brayden Curlis' walk-off single marked the first walk-off win of the season for BGSU. Last year, the Falcons recorded five walk-off wins. Of the five, Curlis was the winning run in two, but this is the first time he's registered the winning hit.
- Alex Laird had a strong day for the Falcons, logging a pair of hits, a pair of RBI and three stolen bases. The three steals are a new career-high for him and came one shy of matching the program record, held in a three-way tie at four by Brandon Howard, Larry Arndt and Charles Clucas.
- Sam Seidel added a pair of stolen bases to the BGSU effort as well, giving him a team-leading 12 on the year. Seidel has now stolen multiple bases in three games this season.
- Zack Horky's home run not only tied the game, but marked the third home run of the season for Horky after entering the season with one for his career.
- Four different pitchers for the Falcons registered three strikeouts in the game, including Micah Smith, Carrson Sova, Luke Krouse and Kade Arn. Arn's accounted for all three outs recorded while he manned the rubber.
- Krouse produced another scoreless outing out of the bullpen, this time going two innings. Krouse hasn't allowed a run in four of his last five outings.
- With the win, BGSU is now 7-1 all-time against Tiffin University. Additionally, Bowling Green's home midweek winning streak is now up to 21, dating back to the 2019 season. The last home midweek loss for the Falcons came in the final midweek home game of the 2018 season.
UP NEXT
Bowling Green will continue their midweek slate while simultaneously concluding their homestand on Wednesday (March 25), taking on Findlay. The game is now set for a 6 p.m. start, a change from the originally announced time. Any schedule changes will be announced on BGSUFalcons.com as well as Twitter/X (@BGSU_Baseball).
