Falcons Stay In-State With Games At Dayton, Miami (OH) This Week

Falcons, Flyers Set For Tuesday Midweek; BGSU, Miami (OH) Scheduled For Weekend Series
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will finish off their road swing to start the season this week with four games on the road. Despite the road games, the Falcons will stay in the state of Ohio for four games. BGSU's week will begin on Tuesday (March 10) with a 3 p.m. first pitch against Dayton, which will be available to stream on ESPN+. From there, the Falcons will return to MAC play with a three-game series at Miami (OH), beginning on Friday (March 13) with a 3 p.m. start. BGSU Battling The Best Of The Best
Through the first four weeks of the season, Bowling Green has played the hardest schedule of any MAC team and one of the top 40 most difficult in the entire nation. For strength of schedule, the Orange and Brown are currently ranked 39th in the nation and first in the MAC. The next team from the conference is Western Michigan at 102 with no other MAC teams breaking the Top 100. All five of BGSU's non-conference opponents to start the season won 30+ games in 2025, including Georgia Tech's 41 and Kent State's 38, and have a combined 53-25 record so far to begin the 2026 season.
Scouting Dayton
Dayton is off to a hot start in the 2026 season, posting a 12-3 record while being 8-1 when playing at home. The Flyers are on a five-game winning streak, including wins in 11 of their last 12. The only loss during that streak came on March 1, falling 12-5 in the first game of a doubleheader against Ohio, which also marked their lone home loss. Dayton's strength has been at the plate, hitting .329 as a team with 25 home runs and 143 runs produced through 15 games.

Scouting Miami (OH)
The RedHawks hold an 11-4 record through the first 15 games of the season and will play Evansville at home on Wednesday (March 11). Miami (OH) swept their first MAC series, besting Eastern Michigan and outscoring them 30-12 over the series at home. Miami started the season 4-0 with a sweep over Southern University and a win over Brown. Offensively, the RedHawks are led by Tommy Harrison, hitting .442 with six doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI.

What To Watch For
Stade Stacking Strikeouts
Coming on in relief against Kent State, Ethan Stade put together a strong outing for the Falcons on the mound. Going four innings, Stade allowed just one hit and struck out 11 batters, earning the extended save in the contest. Stade is the first Falcon with 10+ strikeouts in a game since DJ Newman had 11 against Memphis on Feb. 23, 2024. Stade combined with Nate Kress on the day to strike out a total of 16 Golden Flashes, the most strikeouts in a game by BGSU since tallying 19 against Belmont on March 2, 2019. Over the summer, Stade struck out 43 batters over 30 innings of work for the Willmar Stingers in the Northwoods League.
Salvione Settling In
Arriving in Bowling Green this season, Vinny Salvione is finding his stride at the plate. Salvione is currently in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, tied for the longest active on the team. During the streak he's also tallied an RBI in each game and scored a run in five of the six. Against Kent State, Salvione registered either a triple or a home run in each game. For the six-game streak, Salvione is batting .333 (8-for-24) with seven RBI, five runs scored, one double, one triple and three home runs while also drawing a walk and stealing a base in the process. He was also hit by a pitch, giving him a slash line over the last six games of .333/.385/.833.
Rolling Two With The Falcons
Bowling Green has been one of the better teams in the nation this year at working into double plays defensively. Through 13 games, the Falcons have turned 14 double plays, ranking 30th in the nation. As for the per game average of 1.08, the Orange and Brown are currently ninth in the nation and lead the conference. At their current pace, the Falcons would turn 59 double plays this year. The program record is 65 from the 2002 campaign. Last year, BGSU turned 36 double plays, averaging 0.65 per game.
