LAST TIME OUT
In the Falcons last five games since Friday (4/9),the Falcons posses a 2-3 record with a win against Ball State in the series finale (4/11, 9-3) and an extra-inning victory against Cleveland State, 6-5. Most recently, Bowling Green fought well but eventually succumbed to the University of Michigan after a a five-run sixth inning seperated the two teams for good in the Wovlerines' 8-5 victory on Wednesday (4/14). Jon Berti has remained hot with a .529 batting overage over that time, having nine hits and four RBI as well. Kevin Leady turned in an amazing seven-inning performance allowing only three hits, two runs and ringing up seven Ball State batters on 4/11. Cody Apthorpe followed with his best outing of the season in his second start. Against UM (4/14), he tossed five innings, allowed only two hits and one run in the no-decision.
THE SERIES - FALCONS vs. ROCKETS
The Falcons and the Rockets have one of the most storied histories in MAC baseball, prior to the MAC even existing. The two teams first met in 1921 in a game that notched Bowling Green's first tie in school history in a 4-4 decision in 13 innings. Bowling Green has played Toledo more than any other school in BGSU baseball history at 194 games in all. The all-time mark resides with Bowling Green with 110 wins to 81 losses and three ties.
Did you know: The Rockets and Falcons actually tied TWICE that year, calling it quits after 13 innings a sceond time that same season in a 6-6 game.

LEADY PLAYS TEACHER WITH HITTERS
Senior right-hander Kevin Leady has had a phenomenal season, especially as of late. Looking at his stat line, one would think that he should be the Falcons' number one starter, but Leady has been relegated to weekend starts only because of his Middle Childhood Education major's student-teaching responsibilities that take him away from the field most weekdays. The typical Sunday starter has a 3-0 mark in his last four starts and has struck out 26 hitters in 27.1 innings as opposed to walking only nine. He has won four of his last five decisions dating back to his start against Butler (3/8). He had a career start against EMU (4/4) when he struck out a career-best ten batters in 7.1 innings and aquired the win. Leady leads the pitching staff in wins (4), ERA (4.06), innings pitched (44.1) and strikeouts (40) this season.
BLANTON'S HIT STREAK ENDS AT 21
Dating back to the Falcons' seventh game of the season, T.J. Blanton began a hit streak that by its end would rank second in BGSU baseball history. On March 6 in the Falcons' opening game of the RussMatt Invitational, Blanton earned his first hit beginning what would be become a 21-game hitting streak. The streak was snapped on April 13 against Cleveland State when Blanton went 0-for-5 against the Vikings. During that streak, Blanton amounted 12 games in which he had multiple hits, thrice having three or more. 36 of his 43 hits this season (through 4/16) came during that hitting streak. Mike Combs set the current school record of 25 straight games with a hit in 1995. At the time of the streak snapping, Blanton had the ninth longest hitting streak in the nation.
SPENCER HEATING UP!
After a slow start at the plate, last year's All-MAC selection Derek Spencer has seen his batting average and season total increase more rapidly over his last nine games. Since March 23 against West Virginia his batting avereaged has risen nearly 100 points, now standing at .280. Against EMU (4/2-4/4) Spencer went a combined 6-for-12 (.500) with three RBI with a double and a triple. He had a season-high four RBI against CMU on a 3-for-5 day including a base-clearing, three-RBI double. He is currently riding a five-game hitting streak and has had a pair of hits and a RBI in his last two games. Since 4/9 versus Ball State, he is a combined 7-for-19 (.368) with 5 RBI, a home run and two walks.
