Falcons Open Home Slate With Games Against Dayton And Malone

The Bowling Green State University baseball team will play their 2012 home-opener on Tuesday afternoon at Warren E. Steller Field. Following Tuesday's game, the Falcons will be back at home on Wednesday afternoon to play Malone.
The Falcons will meet the Flyers for the second time this season, when they meet in Bowling Green on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons defeated Dayton 5-2 at Dayton back on February 28. In that contest, Matt Malewitz received the win for the Falcons, while Jake Thomas stood out offensively reaching base three times.
For the Falcons, Jake Thomas leads the way offensively this season, with a .400 batting average in 35 at-bats. Thomas has started eight games, while seeing action in 10-of-14. T.J. Losby, who has started 13 games, while playing in all 14, comes into the week with a .367 batting average. He also leads the team with 10 RBI.
For the Flyers, who enter Tuesday with a 4-9 record, A.J. Ryan leads the way offensively. He comes into play with a .409 average, while leading the Flyers with 13 RBI. Bobby Glover and C.J. Gillman also are tied for the team lead with 13 RBI.
The Falcons will meet the Malone Pioneers in Wednesday afternoon action. Malone enters the week with a 6-9 record, having lost six-of-seven. The Falcons are 1-0 all-time vs. the Pioneers, having defeated them 5-1 in 1984.
Malone is led by Joe Goddard and Sam Craciun offensively. Goddard enters play with a .421 average in 14 appearances. Cracium enters with a .404 average in 15 games. He is tied for the team lead with 19 hits, and also driven in 8 runs. Malone is coached by Tom Crank.
