Falcons Welcome Kent State To Town For Weekend Series

The Bowling Green State University baseball team, coming off a win over Michigan on Tuesday, will host Kent State in a crucial Mid-American Conference series this weekend. The three-game set will be held at Warren E. Steller Field on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
The Falcons enter the weekend with a 12-20 record overall, but just 2-7 in MAC play to this point. Bowling Green is coming off a weekend in which they were swept on the road by Akron. Kent State will come into Bowling Green with a record of 9-0 in Mid-American Conference play, having swept Ball State, Northern Illinois, and Buffalo thus far.
Bowling Green has been tough to beat at home this season, compiling a record of 6-1 at Steller Field. The Falcons took 2-out-of-3 from Central Michigan in their only home conference series to this point. Kent State enters the weekend with a record of 11-10 on the year in road contests.
The Falcons enter the weekend with a record of just 2-7 in Mid-American Conference play, but four of their MAC losses have been by just one run. The Falcons also come into this weekend having won their last three home games, and six-out-of-seven this season at home. The Falcons, of head coach Danny Schmitz, are led by Andrew Kubuski offensively. Kubuski leads the team with a .393 batting average, and is also tied for the team lead in RBIs with 22. T.J. Losby shares the lead in RBIs with Kubuski. The Falcons have a team ERA of 4.51, and hit .293 as a team.
Kent State is coached by Scott Stricklin, who is in his tenth season as the head coach of the Golden Flashes. Kent State enters the weekend at 19-13, coming off of a midweek win over Youngstown State. The Golden Flashes are led by Nick Hamilton on the offensive side, and hit .304 as a team. Kent State is led by David Starn, last season's MAC pitcher-of-the-year. As a team, Kent State has an ERA of just 4.12. Kent State has also been solid on defense this year, fielding .972 as a team through 32 games.
