About Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey team is a NCAA Division I college ice hockey program. The Buckeyes are a member of the Big 10 Conference, and play at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes ice hockey program began in 1963 and played in the CCHA from 1971-2013. Ohio State has joined Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Penn State to form a six-team Big Ten Hockey Conference.
The Last Time
Four unanswered goals propelled the Bowling Green State University ice hockey team's comeback over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday night (Oct. 15), defeating the Scarlet and Gray 4-3. Playing in front of 2,752 Falcon faithful at the BGSU Ice Arena, the Falcons (1-1-1) saw three different players score goals, while sophomore Tommy Burke turned away 25-of-28 shots throughout the night.
All-Time Series
The Falcons and Buckeyes have met a total of 157 times since dating back to 1969. Overall, BGSU leads the series 90-59-8. Bowling Green also has three shootout victories over that time.
The First Game (Weekend Series: Colgate)
The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team played their first weekend home game of the season on Friday night (Oct.18), skating to a 1-1 tie against the Colgate University Raiders. Playing in front of 2,273 Falcon faithful at the BGSU Ice Arena, the Falcons' (1-1-2) senior forward Bryce Williamson scored the lone goal, while sophomore Tommy Burke turned away 19-of-20 shots throughout the night.
The Last Game (Weekend Series: Colgate)
The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team defeated Colgate University on Saturday night (Oct. 19), 7-0, in an offensive juggernaut showcase in the second game of the home series. Playing in front of 2,189 Falcon faithful at the BGSU Ice Arena, the Falcons (2-1-2) saw five different players score goals, while Tomas Sholl stopped all 20 shots he faced to earn his first collegiate victory.
Fire Away
Bowling Green outshot the Raiders by 49 shots on goal over the weekend (89-40). The Falcons had 50 shots on goal on Saturday (Oct. 19), marking it the first time since Oct. 11, 2008 when Bowling Green tied Niagara 3-3 in overtime.
Lucky Number 7
Bowling Green's 7-0 victory on Saturday night (Oct. 19) was the first time the Falcons won by at least seven goals in the regular season since Dec. 30, 2005 when the Orange and Brown defeated Connecticut, 9-2. It also marked the first time the Falcons scored at least seven goals in a shut out victory in a regular season game since Oct. 11, 1996 when they defeated Toronto 9-0.
Scoring Machine
Senior forward Bryce Williamson is tied second overall in the WCHA for scoring. Over his first five games Williamson has seven total points (4-3), averaging 1.40 point per game. Williamson has scored a goal in three consecutive games for the Falcons, helping him have at least one point in four of his first five games.
Willy Some More
Bryce Williamson had a goal and two assists on Saturday (October 19) in Bowling Green's 7-0 triumph over Colgate, with his three points marking a single game career high. Over the week Williamson had a total of three goals, three assists, 15 shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus rating, eventually being named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 22).
Lending A Helping Stick
Junior forward Dan DeSalvo leads the WCHA in assists with five, averaging one assist per game. DeSalvo had four helpers in the 7-0 victory over Colgate University this past Saturday, giving him a new single game career high for assists in a game, breaking his previous-best of two.
Sholl Along
Freshman Goaltender Tomas Sholl made his second start in the net on Saturday night against Colgate University. Sholl turned away all 20 shots he faced, earning his first collegiate victory in a shut out win over the Raiders. It marked the first time a freshman shut out an opponent within his first two starts since Bob Petrie completed the feat. in a 6-0 victory over Ohio State on Oct. 22, 1993.
Leading The Way
The junior class is currently responsible for 50 percent of the team's assists (14-of-28) and 35 percent of the team's total points (16-of-45), while the sophomores are responsible for 47 percent of the team's goals (8-of-17).

Three Falcons' are all on current point streaks, with Bryce Williamson having the longest of three games (3g, 3a). Mark Cooper (1g, 2a) and Rusty Heffner (2 assists) also are on current Falcon point streaks. It marks the first time for Hafner to record back-to-back assists in 17 games, dating back to Jan. 19, 2013 when the Falcons played Western Michigan.
Murphy At It Again
Sophomore forward Ben Murphy scored two goals on Saturday night, giving him four goals total goals on the week. Murphy had five total points in the week (4-1-5). It was the most points Murphy had in a three-game stretch in his career.
Tate Joins The Party
Sophomore Brent Tate scored two goals against Colgate University on Saturday night, marking his first two goals of the season and a new single game high for goals in a game.
