The Bowling Green State University baseball team (13-20; 8-7 MAC) enters a crucial stretch in their schedule, beginning with two midweek games this week. The Falcons will play nine of their final 16 games, including eight of the final 11, inside the friendly confines of Warren E. Steller Field. The Orange and Brown will travel to Xavier University for a Tuesday afternoon matchup, before returning home for a Wednesday afternoon affair with Wright State University.
Scouting The Musketeers
Xavier comes into the contest at 21-17 overall, 8-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Musketeers currently sit in fifth place in the 15-team league. Xavier has been tough at home (Hayden Field), recording an early season mark of 6-3 in home contests. XU is coached by Scott Googins. As a team Xavier is hitting .310, led by Mark Elwell's .378 average. Elwell, the fifth-year senior, is an outfielder from Granville, Ohio. As a club, the Musketeers have an ERA of 4.25. Xavier is expected to start RHP Vinny Nittolo, a redshirt junior from Gibsonia, Pa.

A series which began in 1964, Bowling Green currently holds a 15-10 advantage through 25 all-time games. The last time these two teams met was on March 5, 2011, a 7-6 XU win in Winter Haven, Fla.
The Tie Between Xavier and Bowling Green
On March 25, 2013, current Bowling Green Athletic Director Greg Christopher was introduced as the 11th Director of Athletics in Xavier University history. Christopher has spent the past six-and-a-half years at the helm of the Falcons' athletic department. Christopher's last day at Bowling Green will be May 2, and he will begin as the Director of Athletics at Xavier on May 6.
Scouting Wright State
The Raiders will play host to Shawnee State on Monday evening, before travelling North on I75 for a matchup with the Falcons. They currently sit at 17-18, after having a series at Milwaukee canceled over the weekend. Rob Cooper is in his ninth season as the head coach of Wright State. As a team, WSU bats .280. They are led by junior outfielder Mark Fowler, who is currently hitting .345. WSU has a team ERA of 5.18.
Bowling Green vs. Wright State—The Series
The Falcons currently lead the all-time series against Wright State, with an overall record of 27-24-1. Wednesday's game will serve as the 53rd game in the battle between the two foes. Last season, the two teams split a pair of games, with each team claiming road victories.
Schmitz Wins 600

Last Weekend
The Bowling Green State University baseball team defeated visiting Akron in two-out-of-three, claiming a doubleheader sweep on Saturday before losing in Sunday's finale. In Saturday's first game, Jeremy Shay hit two home runs, drove in four RBI, and scored three runs. In the second game on Saturday, Mike Frank tossed eight innings, while striking out eight batters. Both were career-highs. Frank carried a no-hitter into the seventh, allowing just two hits on the day. On Sunday, the Orange and Brown committed five errors and stranded 11 runners on base in a 7-3 loss to the Zips.
