Bowling Green Drops Tuesday Contest At Youngstown State

NILES, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team lost to Youngstown State University, 13-4, Tuesday (April 24) evening at YSU's Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio. The Penguins scored the first 13 runs of the ballgame to pull away from the Falcons.
Bowling Green drops to 10-26 on the campaign with the loss. Youngstown State moves to 12-26 in 2018 with the victory.
"The conditions were less than ideal tonight, but we just didn't have it," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "It was nice to see a number of guys come off the bench and contribute, but we'll need a much better effort this weekend."
Bowling Green scored all four of its runs in the top of the eighth. Cam Daugherty and Nick Neibauer posted RBI doubles, while Adam Furnas drove in two runs with his first-career triple.
Youngstown State scored a single run in the second, before breaking the game open with a four-run fourth. YSU went on to score one in the fifth, five in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Bowling Green heads to Mount Pleasant this weekend for a three-game series at Central Michigan, beginning with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 17.

• Bowling Green's nine hits were registered by nine different Falcons.
• Adam Furnas' two-RBI triple marked the second hit of his career. His first-career triple drove in the second and third RBI of his Falcon career.
