- The No. 9 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team is back on home ice this weekend to host the Bulldogs of Ferris State University for a two game series (Jan. 25-26). Â
- The first game between the Falcons and Bulldogs will be on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7:37 PM ET. The second game of the series will be the following night on Saturday, Jan. 26 as these two squads face-off at 7:07 PM ET.
- This is the second regular season meeting between Bowling Green and Ferris State scheduled for the 2018-19 season. The Falcons traveled to Big Rapids in December taking the two game series against the Bulldogs with a 3-3 tie (shootout victory, Dec. 7) and 4-3 overtime win (Dec. 8).
>>VERSUS FERRIS STATE
- All-time, Bowling Green holds a 69-59-13 edge over the Ferris State Bulldogs.
- This will be the second regular season series between the Falcons and Bulldogs during the 2018-19 season, as BGSU traveled to Big Rapids in December. Bowling Green gained five points in the WCHA against Ferris State tying game one, and winning game two in overtime.
- The Falcons fought back to tie the Bulldogs in game one (Dec. 7) as regulation ended 3-3. Following two overtime periods, Taylor Schneider would score in the sudden death shootout. This coupled with two shootout saves by Ryan Bednard would gain BGSU the extra point in WCHA play.
- Bowling Green would take the series victory against Ferris State on Saturday (Dec. 8) scoring in overtime to win by a final score of 4-3. Alex Barber would score the game-winning overtime goal for Bowling Green just 25 seconds into the first overtime period. This was the second goal of his career with the Orange and Brown, as he netted the full WCHA victory for BGSU.

- Bowling Green enters this series following a two game split of WCHA foe Alaska on the road in Fairbanks, AK.
- The Falcons fell in game one of the series at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Friday (Jan. 18) by a final score of four to one. BGSU outshot the Nanooks of Alaska 36 to 23 in the contest.
- UAF would hold a two goal lead going into the third period. BGSU would utilize an extra skater as Connor Ford would score one in front to cut the lead in half for the Falcons. Alaska would net a pair of empty net goals to record the final score.
- Bowling Green then split their two game series with Alaska on Saturday (Jan. 19) night, shutting out the Nanooks by a final score of two to zero. The Falcons scored twice on 34 shots on goal.
- Sophomore goaltender Eric Dop turned away 31 shots on route to his second career shutout, as well as the first regulation shutout victory of his career with the Orange and Brown. This was the third time during the 2018-19 season that Eric Dop did not allow a goal over the course of sixty minutes in net. He was not given a shut out on the stat sheet versus Alabama Huntsville due to an own goal during a delayed penalty.
- Max Johnson would get the Falcons on the scoreboard in the first period as Dop's excellent goaltending would hold strong throughout. Brandon Kruse would add an empty net goal to seal it for the Falcons. Upon this victory, Bowling Green moved back into second place in the WCHA standings.
>>STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
- Holding a conference record of 11-5-2, Bowling Green sits in second place with 37 points in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings going into this weekend. This following a split with Alaska Fairbanks. The Falcons are 16-6-3 overall in the 2018-19 season with 10 games left in the regular season.
- BGSU continues to bolster one of college hockey's strongest team defenses sitting No. 1 for the second week straight. They enter this series with the lowest goals-against-per-game average in the country (1.80). The Falcons' penalty kill unit also remains among the country's best sitting alone in sixth place with a percentage of .872.
- Sophomore goaltender Eric Dop's 31 save shutout in Saturday's (Jan. 19) 2-0 win over Alaska is the second shutout of his season and career with the Orange and Brown. This is also his first shutout victory as Dop's first shutout was a 33 save performance versus Alaska Anchorage as the Falcons tied the Seawolves at 0-0. This was actually the third time during the 2018-19 season that Eric Dop did not allow a goal over the course of sixty minutes in net. He was not given a shut out on the stat sheet versus Alabama Huntsville due to an own goal during a delayed penalty. Eric Dop's record moves to 4-2-1 in seven starts this season.
- The sophomore class continues to light up the scoreboard as well. Connor Ford tallied his tenth goal of the season for Bowling Green in Friday's (Jan. 18) game. He now has 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points so far on the 2018-19 campaign. He has now tied his total points scored during his freshman year with 10 games yet still to play in the 2018-19 regular season.
- Brandon Kruse tallied multi-point game number 15 for his career in Saturday (Jan. 19) night's win. He recorded assist number 20 on the year thus far and matched his total goals from a year ago with eight. The Hobey Baker nominee now has 28 points on the season sitting tied for 7th in the nation in scoring.
- Max Johnson scored his tenth goal of the 2018-19 campaign in Saturday's (Jan. 19) win. His 25 points on the season are second most on the Falcons' roster.
>>NATIONALLY RANKED
- Bowling Green remains ranked No. 9 in this week's official USCHO poll (Jan. 21). This is the third straight week the Falcons have been ranked in the top 10 in the country. Bowling Green has yet to be ranked outside of the top 10 in the USCHO poll in 2019.
- The last time BGSU was ranked higher than No. 9 was February 16, 2015, when the team was ranked No. 8.
- BGSU is one of three WCHA teams in the poll, joining No. 7 Minnesota State and No. 18 Lake Superior State. Northern Michigan and Bemidji State are receiving votes going into this weekend.

- Bowling Green was voted to finish second overall in the UAHhockey.com WCHA Media preseason poll, and third in the 2018 Mankato Free Press preseason poll.
- Junior Falcon defenseman Alec Rauhauser was voted First Team All-WCHA by both the media and the coaches. Rauhuaser's contributions to the 2017-18 campaign included leading the squad with 39 points by nine goals and a team-leading 30 assists. The 39 points marked the most by a single Falcon since the 2008-09 season.Â
- Three more Falcons were voted Second Team All-WCHA by the media. Sophomore forward Brandon Kruse, senior defenseman Chris Pohlkamp and junior goaltender Ryan Bednard all made the cut.
>>2018-19 FALCON HOCKEY OUTLOOK
- For the upcoming season, the Falcons will look to return 12 of 16 forwards, all seven defensemen, and all three goaltenders from the 2017-18 campaign that saw the Falcons claim a Great Lakes Invitational Championship.
- Bowling Green garnered 159 points in the media preseason poll, and 76 points in the coaches'. The Falcons also had one vote for the top finish on the year in the media preseason poll.

- With an overall record of 23-12-6 in 2017-18, it marked the Falcons' fourth consecutive 20+ win season and fifth straight winning season. Bowling Green had records 21-18-2 in the 2016-17 campaign, 22-14-6 in the 2015-16 campaign, and a 23-11-5 record in the 2014-15 season. Last year was the 22nd season that the Falcons have tallied a 20-plus win season.
- By competing in the WCHA Championship at the end of the 2016-17 season, it marked Bowling Green's first conference championship appearance since 1988.
