Bowling Green Falls To Western Michigan On Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (2-4-0, 1-1-0 CCHA) fell to the No. 18 Western Michigan Broncos (4-1-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) by a score of 8-2 on Friday, Oct. 14. WMU was boosted by four goals in the first period, with Bowling Green's scores coming on an unassisted Eric Parker tally and power play goal from Evan Dougherty.

Scoring Plays
- Just over a minute into the game, the Broncos scored when Zak Galambos fired a shot from the left circle. He was fed the puck by Ethan Wolthers, who skated down the left side after a cross-ice pass from Cole Gallant.
- Later in the frame, WMU extended the lead with a Hugh Larkin goal. He secured the puck in the corner before skating back to the left circle. His shot went top-shelf for the unassisted score.
- With a couple minutes left in the first, Max Sasson added to the Bronco lead. He skated down the middle with a two-on-two opportunity, stopping to fire from between the circle. He found the back of the net, with assists going to Ryan McAllister and Cedric Fielder.
- Late in the first, Christian Stoever made a save but was collided with in the crease. During the scramble, Larkin's shot slipped through for his second goal. Dylan Wendt and Jack Perbix had the assists.
- Early in the second period, McAllister scored his first goal of the game, scoring from close range after a nifty feed from Luke Grainger. Grainger skated up the right side and found McAllister through contact.
- The Falcons got on the board in the second, when Eric Parker collected the puck after an unsuccessful clearing by the Broncos. His shot from the right side lit the lamp for an unassisted goal.
- Grainger added his first goal of the night less than a minute into the third. Jason Polin's chip from the red line found its way to Wolthers in the corner, who found an open Grainger. He connected on the close-range shot for WMU's sixth goal.
- Evan Dougherty tallied Bowling Green's second goal on the power play. Brayden Krieger passed the puck from the right to left circle, finding Chase Gresock. Gresock fired at the net, with Dougherty getting a piece and redirecting for the goal.
- The Broncos added a power play goal after the midpoint of the frame. Grainger fed the puck to Aidan Fulp at the point, who passed to Galambos on the left circle. His one-timer hit twine for the Broncos' first power play goal of the night.
- WMU closed the scoring late in the game with Sasson's second score. Once again on the power play, McAllister swiped the puck on a BGSU clearing attempt, finding a diving Sasson for the final goal.
- Evan Dougherty scored his first goal of the year, giving him 16 in his career. It was a power play goal, the third of his career. He has 23 career points in 95 games.
- Eric Parker notched his first goal of the season and second of his career. The sophomore has four points on the season and 17 in his career.
- Chase Gresock and Brayden Krieger notched the assists on a Falcon goal for the second consecutive game. Gresock has three assists and four points on the season, while both of Krieger's points this year have been assists. In his career, Gresock has 41 assists and 77 points. Krieger has seven assists and eight points.
- Christian Stoever played the entire game in net and made 33 saves.
