BGSU To Welcome Eastern Michigan To Steller Field For Weekend Series

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will return home to Steller Field this weekend to host the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The Falcons and Eagles are set for a three-game series. Friday's (April 14) game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. Due to heavy rain in the forecast on Sunday, the final two games of the series will be played in a doubleheader on Saturday (April 15). The first game will begin at 12 p.m. with the second game starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Saturday will also be Alumni Day at Steller Field, recognizing the 1998, 2008 and 2013 MAC Championship teams.

Scouting Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan will enter the weekend slate with a 15-15 record this season while being 5-10 within the Mid-American Conference. The Eagles are in the midst of a three-game winning streak. EMU topped Miami (OH) on Sunday 8-1 at home to start the streak. The Eagles then played a home-and-home series with MAC rival Western Michigan, winning both games and outscoring the Broncos 34-15 over the two games played that were recorded as non-conference.

Against the Eagles All Time
The all-time series between Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan dates back to the 1939 campaign. Over 184 meetings, EMU holds the advantage with a record of 111-73. Last season, the Eagles took three of four in the series in Ypsilanti and have won seven of the last eight in the all-time series. BGSU's last win at home over Eastern Michigan came by a 10-3 score on March 31, 2018.

What To Watch For

The last time BGSU won a multiple-game season series against Eastern Michigan was the 2005 season, winning two of three against EMU at Steller Field and outscoring the Eagles 23-14 over the course of the series.
The last win for the Falcons against Eastern Michigan came last season, topping EMU 2-1 in a seven-inning game on April 30.
The last win at home for Bowling Green against the Eagles was on March 31, 2018 by a score of 10-3.

Falcon Facts To Follow

As a team, the Falcons are currently 41st in the country and fourth in the conference for stolen bases per game with an average of 1.76.
Entering the weekend, Gage Schenk is ranked 39th in the nation and third in the Mid-American Conference for hits allowed per nine innings with a mark of 5.96.
Nathan Archer remains in a tie for 12th in the nation and first in the MAC for sacrifice flies this season with five. The nation's leader, Kansas State's Nick Goodwin, is just two ahead of Archer with seven. Archer has also logged a hit in 11 of BGSU's last 12 games.
Kyle Gurney didn't log a hit against Ohio State, ending his hitting streak at 14, but he did draw a walk to reach base and continue his on-base streak to 15 games.
Like Gurney, Sam Seidel didn't record a hit against the Buckeyes, ending his hitting streak at seven, but did draw a walk to continue his on-base streak. This season, Seidel has reached base in 23 of his 26 games played.
Against OSU, Jacob Turner hurled yet another scoreless relief appearance for the Orange and Brown, his sixth straight. Over the six outings, Turner has totaled seven innings of work with seven strikeouts, a win and a save.
Luke Krouse struck out two of the three batters he faced against Ohio State, registering his third straight scoreless relief outing out of the bullpen, totaling 2.2 innings and three strikeouts over the stretch.

Last Time Out
The Falcons took on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus on Wednesday (April 12). BGSU utilized a bullpen game, pitching nine pitchers in the nine-inning game. From the second inning through the fourth inning, the Orange and Brown struck out seven of eight batters, including Isaiah Seidel sending down the Buckeyes in order in the third inning all on strikes. Ohio State claimed the 8-2 final behind three home runs.
