May 13, 2023 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Tyler Ross was hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to elevate the Bowling Green State University baseball team over the NIU Huskies, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon (May 13) at Steller Field. The extra inning heroics started when Justin Fugitt doubled down the right field line to start off the 10th inning. He held at third when Sam Seidel followed with a single to right field. Despite trailing most of the game 3-0, Bowling Green took a 4-3 lead in the seventh. NIU later forced extra innings after plating a run in the top of the ninth with one out.
HOW IT HAPPENED
"It was a great day to be a BGSU Falcon. We honored the seniors before the game and delivered them a win in dramatic fashion. I thought we really stepped up when we needed to. We were very tough in tough situations. I thought the pitching staff did a great job of handling inherited runners and picking one another up when new relivers came in. We just grinded out the whole day and our guys deserve this win." – Kyle Hallock, head baseball coach.
