Brooke Pleger Finishes Third At NCAA Championships For Third All-American Honor
Redshirt senior Brooke Pleger completed one of the most storied careers in BGSU Athletics history, finishing third in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. It was the third consecutive year in which she placed among the top seven in the country in the event and made her the first female three-time All-American in school history. Pleger finished seventh at the NCAA National Championships as a redshirt sophomore and then posted back-to-back third place finishes. During the year, she broke her own school record, eventually settling at ???-? to win her third straight MAC Championship. Pleger was honored throughout the season, earning recognition as the Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year, the Mid-American Conference Most Outstanding Field Athlete, All-MAC, a four-time MAC Field Athlete of the Week, BGSU's Female Athlete of the Year and the Falcon Medal of Honor recipient. Academically, she excelled as well and was a second team Academic All-American, Academic All-MAC, Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
