- The No. 16 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team returns to home ice this weekend to take on the Nanooks of the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Slater Family Ice Arena.
- The Falcons and Nanooks will play game one of this series on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:37 PM ET. The second game will be on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7:07 PM ET. Â
- This will be the second regular season series meeting between Bowling Green and Alaska during the 2018-19 season. The Falcons traveled to Fairbanks in mid-January. The Falcons spilt the series dropping the first game (Jan. 18) by a final score of 4-1. BGSU took the second game (Jan. 19) by a 2-0 shutout.
>>VERSUS ALASKA
- All-time, Bowling Green holds a slight 31-29-9 edge over the Nanooks of Alaska Fairbanks. Very level in recent years, the pair of conference opponents have posted a record of 10-8-4 in Coach Bergeron's previous eight years with the program, including a record of 4-3-1 over the last three seasons. This year's season series is currently tied 1-1, as the Falcons faced-off with the Nanooks for a two game series in Fairbanks just one month ago. This will be their second and final meeting of the 2018-19 regular season.
- Bowling Green fell in game one of their series at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Friday (Jan. 18) by a final score of 4-1. UAF would hold a two goal lead going into the third period. BGSU would utilize an extra skater as Connor Ford would score one in front to cut the lead in half for the Falcons. Alaska would net a pair of empty net goals to record the final score.
- The Falcons then took game two of the series on Saturday (Jan.19) night, shutting out the Nanooks by a final score of 2-0. Eric Dop turned away 31 shots on route to his second career shutout, as well as the first regulation shutout victory of his career. Max Johnson would get the Falcons on the scoreboard in the first period as Dop's excellent goaltending would hold strong throughout. Brandon Kruse would add an empty net goal to seal it for the Falcons.
>>LAST TIME OUT
- Bowling Green enters this series following an off week. Prior to the bye, BGSU earned a two game split of WCHA rival Northern Michigan University on the road in Marquette. BGSU and NMU ultimately split the season series 2-2.
- Bowling Green came from behind to defeat Northern Michigan in overtime in game one of their weekend series on Friday (Feb. 1) night by a final score of 3-2. The Falcons scored three times on 24 shots on goal.
- Sam Craggs would score a shorthanded goal for the Falcons in the first period. NMU would score in the second and third periods to take the lead before Connor Ford would score the game tying goal for BGSU. The game would go into overtime tied at two before, senior forward John Schilling would win it for Bowling Green scoring just 17 seconds into the first overtime period.
- The Falcons then split the hard fought series at dropping game two on Saturday (Feb. 2) night by a final score of 3-2. The Falcons scored twice on 28 shots on goal.
- The NMU Wildcats got out to an early two goal lead in the first period of the contest. Bowling Green would cut the lead in half as Connor Ford would score a power play goal. The Wildcats would score another in the first period, carrying a 3-1 lead for most of the game. John Schilling would tally his second goal of the weekend with 28 seconds left in the third period as the Falcons pulled their goaltender to add the extra skater.
>>STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
- Bowling Green continues to bolster one of college hockey's strongest team defenses sitting No. 1 for the fifth week straight. The Falcons have spent the majority of the 2018-19 season in the top three in team defense. They enter this series with the lowest goals-against-per-game average in the country (1.83). The Falcons' penalty kill unit also remains one of the best sitting in third place with a percentage of .875.
- Senior forward John Schilling was one of two Falcons to tally three points in Marquette during the Falcons' most recent series against Northern Michigan. Schilling had an assist on Connor Ford's game tying goal late in the third period before putting the game-winner in the back of the net just 17 seconds into the first overtime period as the Falcons came from behind to defeat the Wildcats. Schilling then scored a goal in the closing seconds of Saturday (Feb. 2) night's loss. John Schilling scored his fourth goal of the season and number 16 of his career. He now has seven multi-point games in his career. He enters this series on a two game point streak.
- Connor Ford tallied the game tying goal and an assist on the game-winner in Friday's (Feb. 1) win. He then fired a laser from the left wing for a power play goal in Saturday (Feb. 2) night's game. Ford has surpassed his point total from his freshman year with 21 points so far during the 2018-19 campaign. He now has five multi-point games this season, bringing his career total to seven with the Orange and Brown.
- Lukas Craggs was back on the scoresheet for the first time since returning from injury recording two assists in game two (Feb. 2) of the previous series. This was the second time during the 2018-19 season that he recorded multiple assists in a game, and the fourth time in his career. Lukas now has five multi-point games in the 2018-19 campaign, and 12 in his career.
- Sam Craggs scored shorthanded goal number five for Bowling Green on the season to open the scoring of the previous series against Northern Michigan. The Falcons are tied for sixth in shorthanded goals nationally.
>>NATIONALLY RANKED
- Bowling Green comes into this series ranked No. 16 in the most recent USCHO poll (Feb. 11). The Falcons are one of three WCHA teams in the poll, joining No. 5 Minnesota State and No. 19 Lake Superior State.Â
- Bowling Green is currently No. 15 in the Men's Division I Hockey PairWise rankings.

>>PRESEASON POLLS PEG BOWLING GREEN
- Bowling Green was voted to finish second overall in the UAHhockey.com WCHA Media preseason poll, and third in the 2018 Mankato Free Press preseason poll.
- Junior Falcon defenseman Alec Rauhauser was voted First Team All-WCHA by both the media and the coaches. Rauhuaser's contributions to the 2017-18 campaign included leading the squad with 39 points by nine goals and a team-leading 30 assists. The 39 points marked the most by a single Falcon since the 2008-09 season.Â
- Three more Falcons were voted Second Team All-WCHA by the media. Sophomore forward Brandon Kruse, senior defenseman Chris Pohlkamp and junior goaltender Ryan Bednard all made the cut.

- Coming into this season, the Falcons returned 12 of 16 forwards, all seven defensemen, and all three goaltenders from the 2017-18 campaign that saw the Falcons claim a Great Lakes Invitational Championship.
- Bowling Green garnered 159 points in the media preseason poll, and 76 points in the coaches'. The Falcons also had one vote for the top finish on the year in the media preseason poll.

- With an overall record of 23-12-6 in 2017-18, it marked the Falcons' fourth consecutive 20+ win season and fifth straight winning season. Bowling Green had records 21-18-2 in the 2016-17 campaign, 22-14-6 in the 2015-16 campaign, and a 23-11-5 record in the 2014-15 season. Last year was the 22nd season that the Falcons have tallied a 20-plus win season.
- By competing in the WCHA Championship at the end of the 2016-17 season, it marked Bowling Green's first conference championship appearance since 1988.
