Two-Run Ninth Propels Falcons To Come-From-Behind Victory Over Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team captured the 3-2 win on Saturday (April 1) over Central Michigan behind a two-run top of the ninth. Entering the ninth trailing 2-1, Nathan Rose began the inning by drawing a walk. Making his way to third via a wild pitch and ground out, Rose was able to score on a fielding error off of contact by Nathan Archer. In the next at-bat, Gavin Ganun knocked a hit to score Archer and push the Falcons ahead for their first lead of the day and the win.
Rose scored twice for the Falcons, logging the first BGSU run of the day on a solo home run in the fourth inning. As for on the mound, Peyton Wilson struck out eight before handing it over to Nic Good. Good didn't allow a hit and faced just nine batters over the course of three innings, picking up his first win of the season. As a team, the Falcons have now won eight of their last nine games, improving to 11-13 on the season and 6-5 within the MAC. The win also clinches a series win for Bowling Green over the three-time defending MAC Champions with a chance at a sweep on Sunday (April 2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Central Michigan tallied the first run of the game with an RBI single with runners on first and second in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Falcons were able to tie it up in the top of the fourth inning with Nathan Rose blasting a solo home run to knot it up at 1-1.
- CMU reclaimed their lead in the bottom of the inning with a bases loaded ground out bringing home a run to put them up 2-1.
- In the top of the ninth, Rose began the inning with a leadoff walk and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Tyler Ross grounded out, moving Rose to third. Nathan Archer put a ball in play and reached on an error, scoring Rose and tying the game at 2-2.
- In the next at-bat, Gavin Ganun ripped a base hit to score Archer from first base and push the Falcons out in front 3-2 for their first lead of the day and final score.

- The Falcons have now won eight of their last nine games. The last time BGSU won eight games over a nine-game span was the 2014 season.
- Scoring two of BGSU's three runs, Nathan Rose continued his hitting streak with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Rose is now in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak and a 12-game on-base streak. He's also crushed a career-high five home runs during the streak with 17 RBI.
- Nic Good picked up his first win of the season behind three innings of relief. Over his three innings, Good struck out three and didn't allow a hit, walking just one for his lone base runner allowed.
- Gavin Ganun came through with a clutch hit to score the winning run for the Falcons in the ninth. In seven starts this season, Ganun now has six RBI on eight hits.
- Kyle Gurney extended his hitting streak as well with a base hit, stretching his streak to 10 games.
- Nathan Archer also continued his hitting streak with a base hit, bringing his hitting streak to seven games and his on-base streak to nine. Archer has also scored in six of the last eight games for BGSU.
- After striking out 10 in his last start, Peyton Wilson sent down eight Chippewas on strikes in this game. Wilson now has 18 strikeouts over his last two starts, the most across back-to-back appearances in his collegiate career.
- Leighton Banjoff logged a double for the Falcons for the second straight day, his fourth of the season.
- This is the first time the Falcons have won back-to-back games against Central Michigan since winning the series finale in 2014 and the series opener in 2015. The last time BGSU won back-to-back over CMU in the same series was 2012, winning 12-8 on March 31 and 5-4 in 15 innings on April 1.
