Bowling Green To Battle The Buckeyes In Wednesday's Midweek Matchup

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will travel south in the state of Ohio to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes on Wednesday (April 12) for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes will be the second Power 5 opponent for the Falcons this season after facing nationally-ranked Louisville in February. BGSU enters the matchup with an 11-17 standing on the season while being 6-9 within the Mid-American Conference. Wednesday's game will be available to stream on Big Ten Network+ with a radio stream available through BGRSO.

Scouting Ohio State
Ohio State enters the week with a 15-15 record and 2-7 standing in the Big Ten Conference ahead of two MAC matchups. The Buckeyes are scheduled to face the Akron Zips on Tuesday (April 11) before hosting the Falcons on Wednesday. OSU has gone against two MAC opponents already this season, topping Toledo, 6-4, on March 22 and beating Kent State, 7-6, last week on April 4. At the plate, the Buckeyes have three batters hitting above .300, including Matthew Graveline at .352 with six doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI over 24 games.

Wednesday's meeting between Bowling Green and Ohio State will mark the 55th meeting all-time between the two programs. The Buckeyes hold the advantage in the series with a record of 31-19-4. The last meeting came during the 2017 season in Columbus where the Buckeyes claimed a close 7-6 final on May 9. OSU has won the last two games, picking up a win in 2012 as well. BGSU's last win in the series came during the 2011 campaign with a 5-4 win on April 20. Ohio State has won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams.

Over the weekend, the Falcons took on the Kent State Golden Flashes, falling in each game of the series. Friday's (April 7) was a close contest, seeing BGSU hold the Kent State offense to just two hits, but it was enough to make the difference in the 1-0 final. KSU's bats awoke on Saturday, taking a 10-1 final before another pitcher's duel on Sunday that concluded with a 4-2 score.

- Schenk is also knocking on the door of entering the record book for the Falcons. Over his five seasons in the Orange and Brown, Schenk has sent down 169 batters via strikeout, needing eight more to tie Burke Badenhop for 10th all-time in program history and 10 to match Kyle Knoblauch for ninth.
- Jacob Turner made another scoreless relief appearance for the Falcons, his fifth straight. Over his last five outings, Turner has totaled six innings of work, allowing just four hits and five walks while striking out five and recording one win and one save.
- Landon Willeman has made four straight appearances without allowing a run, spanning six innings. Over the six innings pitched, Willeman has given up just two hits and walked two while striking out six.
