LAST TIME OUT ...
... Bowling Green took two losses courtesy of the now No. 5 Miami RedHawks, at home. Bowling Green made Friday night's affair close in a 4-3 defeat in a resilient effort against Miami. Brett Mohler (Fr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) scored a pair of goals, one short handed, in the defeat while Nick Eno (Sr., Howell, Mich.) stopped 23-of-27 shots against him. James McIntosh (Holland Landing, Ontario) added the third goal with 00:03 remaining in the game. Saturday night the Falcons were held to just nine shots on goal all night long working against a stingy Miami defense and Cody Knapp between the pipes. The Falcons lost 3-0, giving Miami the weekend sweep. Andrew Hammond (Surrey, British Columbia) stopped 35 pucks for the second straight start in the loss.
THE STARTING FIVE - Five Facts On BGSU Hockey
(1) The Falcons are one win away from achieving 800 wins in the program's 41-year varsity history. They were unable to achieve the mark last weekend against nationally-ranked Miami, keeping their program all-time record at 799-703-100.
(2) BGSU has .500 or better winning percentages against all three teams in the RPI Holiday Tournament. They are 2-2-1 with UAH, 2-0-1 with UConn and 8-8-1 with RPI, all-time.
(3) Former Bowling Green head coach Buddy Powers (1994-2002) was a former head coach of RPI from 1989-1994 where he had an all-time mark of 113-63-13 in five seasons. While with the Falcons, Powers was 92-113-23
(4) Sophomore goaltender Andrew Hammond has now turned in four consecutive 30+ save games dating back to Oct. 30. The Falcons are 0-4-0 in those games.
(5) BGSU will reunite with one of its former players for the second straight weekend when RPI's Nick Bailen (So., D) who played with the Falcons during the 2008-09 season. Last week, the Falcons saw Miami's Patrick Tiesling suit up for the other side.
GOING FOR 800!
The Bowling Green Falcon hockey program is one with a storied history and over its 40+ year existence the program has racked up 799 wins (just short of an average of 20 wins per season). The Falcons have a chance to get that 800th win while in Troy, New York while participating in the 60th annual RPI Holiday Tournament this weekend. Here are a list of what coach brought home milestone wins for the Falcon program:

HOLY MOHLEY!
Freshman Brett Mohler (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has been on a tear recently with his play over the last three weeks. He became the Falcons' first player to score multiple goals in the same game when he had a pair against nationally-ranked Miami on Nov. 19, one of which being a short-handed goal. He had a four-game point streak going from Nov. 6 until last Saturday night when it was halted by the RedHawks. Since the sixth, he has four goals and an assist and a season line of 5-1-6.
SHORT ON SHORTIES
As mentioned, Brett Mohler scored a short-handed goal on Nov. 19 in a 4-3 loss to the nationally-ranked Miami RedHawks. The shorty was the first such goal scored for the Falcons since Feb. 21, 2009 when then-sophomore David Solway scored one against Michigan State in a 4-0 win at home that year. That spanned 52 games since the last short-handed goal was scored by the Falcons.
FRESHMEN GETTING SOME CCH-ATTENTION
With a large sum of its players being first-year players, their contributions to the team's success are both crucial and receiving attention around the league. Two Falcon freshmen have found themselves on the top scorers list among other freshmen in Camden Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) ranking seventh (2-6-8) and Brett Mohler's line of 5-1-6 line ranking him in a tie for tenth. Mohler is in a tie for third-most goals scored by a freshman within the CCHA, this season. During just CCHA games, Wojtala has a 2-5-7 line ranking fifth in the conference among freshmen.
WOJ-NELLY!!
Freshman forward Camden Wojtala also has himself painted on the national freshman list, ranking in the top-20 in total scoring. His eight points (2g, 6a) ranks him 18th in total points among freshman across the nation.
ENO NEARING 1,500 CAREER SAVES
Senior Nick Eno (Howell, Mich.) has been fairly busy between the pipes this season with his 177 saves on the year contributing to his saves total that is closing in on 1,500. He currently has 1,480 saves in his four-year career and with 20 more will reach the 1,500 milestone.
HAMMOND MAKING 30 LOOK COMMONPLACE
Sophomore goaltender Andrew Hammond (Surrey, British Columbia) leads to the league in saves-per-game with 30.5 in seven starts this season. Dating back to Oct. 30, he has posted 30 or more saves in four consecutive games, more than 40 once and back-to-back 35-save games. Unfortunately, those four games where he has stood on his head the Falcons have also taken home losses. His offense in front of him has scored one or fewer goals in three of his last four starts.
FRIDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 2010-11 season has regularly seen more success on Friday night games than Saturday night games. On Fridays, BGSU is 3-4-0 as opposed to Saturday when the team is 2-5-0 and have dropped their last three weekend finales. In every Friday night game after the Michigan series (6 weekends), the Falcons have put more shots on net (25.0) than on their Saturday showing (16.7). The Falcons have also allowed more shots against on Saturday (34.0) than on Friday (28.6). They also average more penalties and PIM on Saturday (7.6/22.3) than on Friday (6.4/12.9).
